Ah the rock…home sweet home. It is funny, it wasn’t until I moved to the mainland did I realize there was something out of place with the name ‘Conception Bay’. I spent many summers here and to me it was just a beautiful place. Now it is the place my husband chuckles at when he hears me talking about it. :p

Perhaps, if you lived in the place you would see it very differently. Dildo has long been recognized as one of the most beautiful small towns in Canada. In addition, boat tours can take you to view Dildo Island (an archaeological site which has a history of human habitation of over 3000 years) and surrounding area. I am sending a link to photos we took in the area. To be frank, CFA who focus on the “names” and ignore the community, the natural beauty, the ecological, and historical significance – completely miss what makes this area outstanding.

Thank you Margaret for sharing your post and photos. Truly it is a beautiful, magical place. I fell in love with the island on my first visit and one day I hope to settle down and retire there.
