Tell us a bit about yourself?

In 2007, I retired after 39 years of working as an In-Charge Flight Attendant. There are not very many people who have the privilege of saying they have had their dream career, but I am fortunate to say that I am one of them. I spent many years living in Montréal before coming to Toronto and I am bilingual. If you are a french speaking visitor to the market, be sure to come over and say hi!

What inspired you to volunteer with the Withrow Park Farmers’ Market?

I volunteer with a number of different organizations and always enjoyed the involvement. Being a volunteers lets you experience an organization from the inside and be an important part of the team. I have been with Withrow Market for 4 years now and have delighted in watching it grow into the vibrant place it is today.

What has the experience been like so far?

Volunteering with the Withrow Park Farmer’s Market has been just great! I love being able to assist with diverse tasks and it brings great satisfaction to know I’m making a contribution. Most weeks I come bright and early to assist the vendors in setting up their stalls and later on I help with the coffee station. It is wonderful to volunteer with such a great group of individuals for such a good cause!

What is your favourite aspect of being a volunteer?

Besides meeting the vendors, member of the community and the other volunteers, feeling useful is a great reward. I like keeping busy and staying connected to the neighbourhood.

And most importantly – What is on your farmers market shopping list?

Mainly fresh vegetables, and the prepared food!

Withrow Park Farmers’ Market wouldn’t exist without the help of our dedicated team of volunteers. If you love being outside, eating yummy local food and being part of a wonderful community initiative, then the Withrow Park Farmers’ Market is the place for you! JOIN US!
