Position: Farmers’ Market Volunteers for the Withrow Park Farmers’ Market
Organization: Centre for Local Food Initiatives
The Withrow Park Farmers’ Market has been a Saturday morning outdoor community hub for 7 summers! The market runs every Saturday between May 17 and October 25 from 9am to 1pm, rain or shine. Withrow Park is one block south of Danforth between Carlaw & Logan in the east end of Toronto.
Who We Are: The Withrow Park Farmers’ Market was born in 2007, and is a place where Ontario farmers using organic and ecological cultivation methods, and local food entrepreneurs using sustainably and equitably produced ingredients in their products, can directly connect with eaters. The market is the project of the Centre for Local Food Initiatives, a registered not-for-profit organization whose mission is to support, engage with and incubate small-scale and community-based local food projects.
What We Need: We are looking for VOLUNTEERS to help in the running of our farmers’ market. Duties include: assisting vendors with set-up, setting up of market information table, supervising traffic, answering questions from market visitors, serving customers at our coffee tent, assisting with special events, help with children’s activities, and market closing.
Volunteer shifts on Saturday mornings:
Market Open 1: 7:30am – 10:30am
Market Open 2: 8:00am – 11:00am
Market Close: 11:00am – 2:00pm
